What is Dura-Skrim?
Made in the USA by Raven Engineered Films, Dura-Skrim is the industry gold standard for reinforced polyethylene barriers.
Raven makes our 6, 12, and 20 Mil products by taking two sheets of high-strength virgin polyethylene film, adding a grid work of high strength polyester scrim (string), and joining them under pressure with an additional layer of molten polyurethane film.
Raven makes our 10 Mil using 7 layers including a middle layer that makes the finished product nearly impenetrable by not only water and water vapor but also gasses, including oxygen.
See our specific product pages for color and additive information.
What is the difference between 20, 12, and 6 Mil?
While there are scientific differences that can be seen in the product lab reports, the practical answer for most applications is durability.
Heavier (thicker) liners are significantly more durable than the next lighter version. (Plastic sheeting is measured in thickness units called a Mil. 1 Mil = 0.001″. A 6 Mil is 0.006″, 12 Mil is 0.012″, and 20 Mil is 0.02″ thick.)
